Philip Madoc was a Welsh actor and the husband of Ruth Madoc a British actress and singer who had a sixty-year career on stage and screen.

The couple got married in 1961. Their marriage lasted for twenty years. They had a son and a daughter, and divorced in 1981.
In January 2012, it was revealed that Madoc had been diagnosed with cancer. He died on March 5, 2012, at the age of 77, at the Michael Sobell Hospice in Northwood, north-west London. He was cremated at Watford’s West Hertfordshire Crematorium.

However, a statement posted to Madoc’s Instagram account on December 8 2022, confirmed she had suffered a fall earlier in the week and was no longer able to appear in the production.
Ruth Madoc died the next day 9 December 2022, in hospital after undergoing surgery at the age of 79.
Ruth Madoc was best known for her portrayal of Gladys Pugh in the BBC television comedy Hi-de-Hi! (1980-1988), for which she was nominated for a BAFTA TV award for Best Light Entertainment Performance.
