Russ Francis football career in the National Football League (NFL) lasted from 1975 to 1989.
The three-time pro bowler had played for the New England Patriots, and the San Francisco 49ers.

In 2000, Francis tried his hands on politics by running for Hawaii’s 2nd congressional district as a Republican, but was defeated.
Francis was also “inducted into the Oregon Sports Hall of Fame, and the Polynesian Football Hall of Fame” in 1993 and 2015 respectively.
Francis passed away in a plane crash, on October 1, 2023, He was aged 70.
