Rustom Sorabji “Rusi” Cooper was a lawyer and first-class cricketer from India. Cooper attended Elphinstone High School and St Xavier’s High School in Bombay.

He made his first-class debut for the Parsees in the 1941-42 Bombay Pentangular Tournament as a right-handed batsman.

Cooper was the penultimate survivor of the Pentangular Tournament, which ended after the 1945-46 season. He is also the longest-serving first-class player in Middlesex history.

He turned 100 on December 14, 2022, and died on July 31, 2023, in South Mumbai.

Rusi Cooper children: Meet Rusi Cooper’s daughter Dinaz

Rusi Cooper, who was the oldest-living First-Class cricketer in the world, having celebrated his 100th birthday on December 22 last year, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Monday morning at his residence in Kemp’s Corner in South Bombay.

He is survived by his daughter Dinaz and son-in-law Hoshang Zaveri, who lives in Pune.
Before his death, Cooper was the only living Indian to have played in the Pentangulars, the pre-Independence league that hosted teams formed on community lines, and the Ranji Trophy.
