His mother, Rupa Huq, a member of the Labour Party, was recently suspended for allegedly making racist comments during a conference fringe event.
Huq had called Chancellor Kwasi Kwarteng “superficially” black.
“If you hear him on the Today programme, you wouldn’t know he’s black”, Huq had said.
Her comments were highly criticised and cinsidered “racist” and “disgusting”.
“My comments were ill-judged and I wholeheartedly apologise to anyone affected”, Huq said again in an apology statement.
Sir Keir Starmer, the Labour leader, announced the suspension of Huq pending investigation.
