Terry Hill, a rugby league icon known for his larger-than-life personality, has tragically passed away at the age of 52.

The New South Wales State of Origin great died suddenly of a suspected heart attack while vacationing in the Philippines on April 24, 2024.
Hill, renowned for his formidable presence on the field, played for five Sydney clubs during a distinguished career that spanned the transition from the old NSWRL to the inception of the NRL.
The Manly Sea Eagles, where Hill experienced his most successful playing stint between 1994 and 1999, confirmed his passing, attributing it to a heart attack during his travels.
Peter V’Landys, Chair of the Australian Rugby League Commission, paid tribute to Hill’s remarkable talents, describing him as a “prodigiously talented footballer” and a cherished figure within the rugby league community.

“Terry was a much loved and respected figure at not only at the Sea Eagles, but across rugby league, where he played for several clubs,” Manly chief executive Tony Mestrov said.
“On behalf of everyone at the Sea Eagles, we offer our deepest and sincere condolences to Terry’s family and friends during this difficult time. Terry will always be fondly remembered at Manly.”
Geoff Toovey, who captained Hill during Manly’s 1996 premiership, remembered him as a dear friend and praised his contributions to the team.
Hill’s sudden departure has left a void in the rugby league community, with tributes pouring in from fans, teammates, and officials alike.
