As a small/power forward for the San Antonio Spurs of the National Basketball Association (NBA), Rudy Gay is an American professional basketball player. The 13-year NBA veteran, known as the “Big Truck” or simply “Truck,” had played for the Memphis Grizzlies, Toronto Raptors, and Sacramento Kings before joining the Spurs.

He presently holds the distinction of being one of just two players in the league with at least 15,000 points, 5,000 rebounds, 1,000 steals, and 500 blocks, the other being living great LeBron James. Gay averages 17.6 points a game in a regular season, and he shoots roughly 45 percent from the field overall.

Gay, whose parents are Rudy Gay Sr., the band director for The Stylistics and the former lead vocalist of the R&B group Ace Spectrum, was born in Brooklyn, New York. He started playing competitive recreational basketball at the age of 12 in his birthplace of Baltimore, Maryland. Gay started participating in the renowned Cecil-Kirk AAU program at the age of 14 under the direction of coach Anthony Lewis.
