Kevin Franke and his wife, Ruby, launched the YouTube channel 8 Passengers back in January 2015. By August 2017, the pair had hit 1million subscribers on the platform due to their family-oriented content.
The Mormon family is from Springville, Utah, and has a total of six children: Shari, Chad, Abby, Julie, Russell, and Eve.
Kevin was previously an assistant professor of civil engineering at Brigham Young University, according to reports. However, because he prefers to stay out of the spotlight, his current profession is unknown.
The family’s channel had amassed an astonishing 2.5 million subscribers before being inexplicably removed in 2022. Ruby and her business partner, Jodi Hildebrandt, have since launched ConneXions, a parent counseling service.

Ruby was arrested and charged with two charges of aggravated child abuse on Wednesday, August 30, 2023. The Washington County Sheriff’s Office confirmed to The Washington Post that she was arrested with her partner Jodi Hildebrandt.
According to police, both of them was arrested for “intentionally or knowingly committing aggravated child abuse.”
