Sister of Nuova Camorra Organizzata (NCO) chief Raffaele Cutolo, who founded the organization to revive the Camorra, Rosetta Cutolo was born on January 1, 1937.

Police conducted a raid on her stronghold in October 1981 while she presided over an NCO gathering. Cutolo evaded capture by driving his automobile past security checks with the assistance of the local priest. She supervised operations from a number of safe homes spread across several cities for more than ten years after that.

On charges of Mafia involvement, she had been given a nine-year prison term in absentia in 1990; this was eventually reduced to five years. She was allegedly in charge of her brother’s business, according to the prosecution.
