The second woman to hold the office of lieutenant governor of North Dakota, Rosemarie Myrdal, has passed away. She was 94 years old.
Myrdal passed away on Wednesday night in Grafton from old age, according to her daughter-in-law, state senator Janne Myrdal. Monday’s funeral and burial ceremonies are scheduled for Gardar’s Pioneer Church.

Former governor Ed Schafer’s lieutenant governor was Rosemarie Myrdal. From 1992 through 2000, the two Republicans held office. From 1985 to 1992, Myrdal was a member of the state House of Representatives. She had five children and worked as a teacher.

Myrdal presided over the state Senate as lieutenant governor and was first in line to become governor. Myrdal was respected by both Democrats and Republicans, according to her daughter-in-law.
