Born on March 5, 1962, in Sherburn, Elmet, U.K, Ford had co-presented The Generation Game with Bruce Forsyth for four years and then moved on to host Strictly Come Dancing on BBC.

As an actress, Ford appeared in the 1998 film adaptation of the musical Cats, playing the role of Bombalurina.

She also appeared in a number of shows such as Juke Box, Me And My Girl, Can-Can and Divorce Me, Darling.

As a dancer, Ford danced on stage during a live performance by Cliff Richard at his “Live and Guaranteed” Tour in 1988.
