Rosalind Wiener Wyman Cause of Death

Rosalind Wyman, who was elected to the Los Angeles City Council at the age of 22 in 1953, died late Wednesday, October 26, 2022, at her home in Bel-Air, according to her family. She was 92 years old.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said in a statement “Roz was a force of nature: breaking down barriers for women in California politics while forging new ways to bring people together through politics, the arts, and baseball,”

“Her leadership helped draw her beloved Dodgers to Los Angeles — and my Giants to San Francisco — so that California families could experience the thrill of America’s pastime.”

Wyman was instrumental in relocating the Brooklyn Dodgers from New York to Chavez Ravine in Los Angeles.

Rosalind Wyman served on the UNESCO Commission and boards ranging from the National Endowment for the Arts to the Los Angeles County Arts Commission to the American Friends of the Hebrew University Board.

Rosalind Wyman also chaired several entities, including the Los Angeles Jewish Community Council Community Relations Committee and the National Congressional Committee Dinner.

She is well-known for being a strong supporter of multi-faith religious tolerance efforts.
