Born on December 30, 1903, in Alabama, Raymond Parks was a barber and an active member of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP). He was a voting rights activist and a strong supporter of equal treatment under the law for African Americans. Parks was a quiet and reserved man, but he was deeply committed to the Civil Rights Movement and believed in using peaceful and non-violent means to bring about change.
