Roland Fargo “Rolly” Crump was an American animator and designer best known as a Disney Imagineer.

Crump was born in Alhambra, California, and began his career at Walt Disney Studios in 1952.

He started off doing inbetweening before becoming an assistant animator on films including Peter Pan, Lady and the Tramp, Sleeping Beauty, and 101 Dalmatians.

Several of the Disney attractions at the 1964 New York World’s Fair, including It’s a Small World and its Tower of the Four Winds marquee, were designed by him.

When the attraction was relocated to Disneyland in 1966, Crump developed the huge animated clock at the entryway, which sends puppet children on a parade.

Rolly Crump left Disney in 1996 and released his book It’s Kind of a Cute Story in 2012.

Crump died on March 12, 2023, at the age of 93, at his home in Carlsbad, California.
