According to Texas officials, Rolando Ramos, the guy who opened fire at an elementary school in Uvalde on Tuesday, May 24, was killed by law enforcement.

According to Gov. Greg Abbott, Ramos shot his grandmother before going to school and fatally shot a teacher and students at the school.

Ramos killed his grandmother and then went to the school at 11:30 a.m. with two military-style firearms he had purchased on his birthday, according to state Sen. Roland Gutierrez, who said he had been briefed by state police.

Ramos had suggested on social media that an attack would be imminent. The massacre is “a tragic event that cannot be condoned in the State of Texas,” Abbott said at a press conference earlier Tuesday before the updated death toll was released.

“He shot and killed 14 pupils and killed a teacher in a brutal, incomprehensible manner,” Abbott said, adding that two responding police officers were also shot but did not appear to be seriously injured.
