Roger Maris was an American professional baseball right fielder who won the 1960 and 1961 Major League Baseball Most Valuable Player Award. Roger Maris played actively in Major League Baseball from 1957 to 1968 for four major teams and won several accolades.

Roger Maris was born in Hibbing, Minnesota, on September 10, 1934, and died in M.D. Anderson Hospital in Houston, Texas, on December 14, 1985, at the age of 51 years as a result of battling a type of cancer called non-Hodgkin lymphoma.

The family of Roger Maris confirmed his death to the media and they met to plan for his funeral. Roger Maris was then buried after a few weeks at Holy Cross Cemetery in Fargo, North Dakota.
Roger Maris was survived by his wife, Patricia A Maris, and their six children called Roger E Maris Jr, Kevin J Maris, Randy Maris, Susan A Maris, Sandra Maris, and Richard Maris.
