The ruling is the most significant Supreme Court decision in decades, and it will change the face of women’s reproductive health in America.

Unless Congress acts, abortion rights will be governed by the states in the future. Without federal protections, an additional four states are expected to outlaw abortions as soon as possible.

According to the Guttmacher Institute, which advocates for abortion rights, at least 21 states already have laws or constitutional amendments in place that would require them to try to ban abortion as soon as possible.
