Robin Stanislaw Ligus (March 6, 1952 – January 6, 2023) was an English serial killer. He was convicted of murdering Robert Young in 1996 and sentenced to life in prison.

Ligus was accused of three additional murders in 2011, was found guilty of two, and was ordered to be imprisoned indefinitely in a secure hospital due to the consequences of a stroke.

Robert Young, a senior, was killed during a burglary in 1994, and Robin Ligus was sentenced to life in prison in 1996.

After a jury determined that the former painter and decorator had also slain Trevor Bradley and Brian Coles in the same year, he was transferred to a mental health facility.

He passed away on December 16; an inquiry into his death is set to begin on Monday in Birmingham.

Following Ligus’s stroke-related incapacitation to stand trial, a trial of the facts was held in 2011, which led to the 2011 sentencing.

Six months after the burglary at the 57-year-old’s in Higher Heath, close to Whitchurch, Mr. Coles’ body was found.

With an iron bar, he had been battered to death.

The jury heard As a father of three and a user of both heroin and cocaine, Ligus committed the crimes in order to fund his addiction.

Even though the offenses had occurred many years before, the sentencing judge, Mr. Justice Treacy, at the time called him “a profoundly dangerous individual.”
