Robert E. Clegg Jr. was an American politician who served as a Republican state senator representing New Hampshire’s 14th district from April 27, 1954, and who unsuccessfully campaigned for Congress in the state’s 2nd congressional district. He passed away on August 31, 2023.

For four terms, Clegg was a representative in the New Hampshire House of Representatives. In addition to Speaker Pro Tempore, Assistant Majority Leader, and Majority Caucus Whip, he held a number of leadership posts.

Both the New Hampshire Home Builders & Remodelers Association and the National Republican Legislators Association have named him Legislator of the Year. He has previously won the Grange #327 Outstanding Legislator Award, the Fire Academy Award from the New Hampshire Fire Standards and Training Commission, and the Government Leadership Award from the New Hampshire Health Care Association.
