Robert E. Clegg Jr. was an American politician who served as a Republican state senator for New Hampshire’s 14th district from April 27, 1954 to August 31, 2023. He also made an unsuccessful bid for Congress in New Hampshire’s 2nd congressional district.

Clegg was a four-term representative for New Hampshire in the House of Representatives. Speaker Pro Tempore, Assistant Majority Leader, and Majority Caucus Whip were just a few of the leadership roles he held during his tenure.

The National Republican Legislators Association and the Home Builders & Remodelers Association of New Hampshire both named him Legislator of the Year. He has previously won the New Hampshire Fire Standards and Training Commission’s Fire Academy Award, the New Hampshire Health Care Association’s Government Leadership Award, and Grange #327’s Outstanding Legislator Award.
