After leaving the New Hampshire Legislature, Robert Clegg established Legislative Solutions. He was elected by his peers and served under two different Senate Presidents while serving in both chambers, rising to the positions of NH State Senate Majority Leader and NH House Speaker Pro Tem.

Robert gained a reputation for being a tenacious champion for his people, the police enforcement community, and the impoverished while serving as a senator. During his three tenure in the Senate, Robert participated in practically every significant item of legislation that was passed by the Senate Chamber as a skilled negotiator. Because of his achievements, the National Republican Legislators Association recognized him Legislator of the Year.

On August 31, 2023, Bob E. Clegg, Jr., affectionately known as Bob to his friends and family, passed away in their presence following a brief fight with cancer. On April 27, 1954, he was born in Lowell.
