Born on September 16, 1973, Richard has served as a Middle East correspondent and Beirut bureau chief at the NBC.

In May 2003, he covered part of the 2003 war in Iraq as a freelance journalist for ABC News.

Richard was raised in Manhattan, New York City by a Jewish father and a Swedish mom.

He had his education at the Riverdale Country School, and later proceeded to Stanford University, where he studied International Relations.

As a student, he wrote for The Stanford Daily and worked as an intern at CNN Business News in New York.

Richard has a vast experience in journalism, having covered the Iraq War, the Arab Spring and the Syrian Civil War. His service in the field of journalism earned him the Medill Medal for Courage in Journalism for his report “War Zone Diary”.
