Rich Piana Illness: How Did Rich Piana Get Heart Disease?

Rich Piana was put into a medically induced coma to try and stop his brain from swelling, but two weeks later, he died.

His autopsy report revealed evidence of heart disease and that his heart and liver were twice the regular sizes, a side effect of long-term steroid use.

His partner, Jansen said Piana was well aware that his organs were enlarged, and that this was a known side effect of the steroids and hormones he had been taking, but said he was not aware that this put him at risk for a sudden cardiac arrest.

The autopsy was ultimately inconclusive on the cause and manner of death.
