In a notice issued on Wednesday, March 20, the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) directed the owners of the Fantasy Dome, stating that a customer had illegally connected power to the venue despite having their own metering system.

“They bypass the meter and connected the power illegally on the public network,” ECG claimed.

This action comes in the wake of the Ghana Trade Fair Company’s demolition of the event center on Saturday, March 16, citing the expiration of a tenancy agreement.

According to reports from Asaase Radio, the purported illegal connection was uncovered when certain electrical cables sparked a fire during the weekend demolition of the facility.

It said the incident happened whilst electricians were disconnecting power to the structure which was eventually demolished.

As a result, ECG has issued a 48-hour ultimatum to the owners of Fantasy Dome, instructing them to report to its Revenue Protection Taskforce office located at Circle.
