Born on November 15, 1940, in Florence, Cavalli established his eponymous fashion brand in the 1970s, revolutionizing the industry with his innovative leather printing process.

His signature style extended beyond animal prints to include hippie dresses, sand-blasted jeans, and patchwork designs on denim, reflecting his appreciation for nature’s beauty.

In a 2011 interview with Vogue, Cavalli expressed his admiration for the vibrant colors found in nature, stating, “I like everything that is of nature.” He attributed his fascination with animal prints to recognizing God’s designs in creatures like fish, snakes, and tigers.

Giorgio Armani, founder of Armani, joined others in paying tribute to Cavalli, acknowledging his unique talent and “Tuscan verve.” Armani praised Cavalli’s ability to transform fantasy into seductive clothing, describing him as a “true artist.”
