Ms Rooney, 35, sued Ms Vardy, 39, for defamation after publicly accusing the latter of being the source of stories about her that were leaked to The Sun newspaper.

The saga began on October 19, 2001, when Ms Rooney took to Twitter to launch a stunning attack on Ms Vardy, accusing her of betraying her trust for personal gain.
Ms Rooney explained in a tweet that she was concerned that posts from her personal Instagram account were being passed to the tabloid and turned into stories.

To narrow down the list of suspects and try to identify the perpetrator, she explained that she had cleverly restricted who could see her posts and begun salting her account with false information as bait, including bogus “stories”.
“I have saved and screenshotted all the original stories that clearly show only one person has viewed them,” she continued, before revealing dramatically, “It’s Rebekah Vardy’s account.”
