Mr. Calvert’s life took a surprising turn when, at the age of 78, he welcomed a new addition to his family – a baby boy, Jamie Rai, born to his 25-year-old partner, Charlotte.
Calvert, a former market trader, made headlines when he became a father for the seventh time in 2010. At an age when most people are enjoying their retirement, Mr. Calvert was embarking on a new chapter in his life.
The age gap between him and his partner, Charlotte, who had taken his surname but had not married him, raised eyebrows, but it was a testament to their enduring love.

Mr. Calvert leaves behind a legacy that includes not only his six other children but also the remarkable bond he shared with Charlotte and Jamie.
Charlotte was first introduced to Raymond when she was around 16, during a three-year-long relationship with her mother.
While the age difference between Raymond and Charlotte may have surprised some, Mr. Calvert consistently maintained that it was never an issue for them.
After the birth of Jamie Rai, Mr. Calvert expressed his gratitude and joy, stating, “I am the most fortunate man in the world. It makes me feel 10ft tall. The baby was planned, and I did not use Viagra or anything like that. I didn’t actually think at my age that it would be possible to have a child, but he’s a beautiful little fella. I feel blessed. I look at that baby and I think, ‘He’s so bloody healthy and good-looking – how did I make that?’”
