Raye is a British singer, songwriter, and musician. She was in Tooting, London, United Kingdom. However, her mother is of Ghanaian-Swiss nationality.

Raye became well-known after appearing on the commercially successful singles “By Your Side,” “You Don’t Know Me,” “Secrets,” and “Bed.” She left Polydor Records in July 2021 to become an independent artist.

Raye rose to prominence as a solo artist in 2022, when her single “Escapism” topped the UK Singles Chart and became her first song to chart on the Billboard Hot 100. Her debut studio album, My 21st Century Blues, was released to critical acclaim in February 2023.

Throughout her career, Raye has received critical acclaim and has been recognized with award nominations. She has written songs for Beyoncé, Little Mix, David Guetta, John Legend, and Ellie Goulding, in addition to her own music.
