Field of Dreams is a 1989 American sports fantasy drama film written and directed by Phil Alden Robinson, based on W.P Kinsella’s 1982 novel Shoeless Joe.

The film stars Kevin Costner as a farmer who builds a baseball field in his cornfield that attracts the ghosts of baseball legends, including Shoeless Shoe Jackson and the Chicago Black Sox.

The film received generally positive reviews from critics and was nominated for three Academy Awards.

What does Ray hear in Field of Dreams?

In Field of Dreams, Costner’s character, Ray Kinsella, builds the ball field of Shoeless Joe after hearing a voice in his cornfield say, If you build it, he will come. He sees a vision of a baseball diamond i the cornfield and Shoeless, Joe Jackson standing in the middle.

Later, he nearly loses his farm as he sets off on a cross-country search for a famously reclusive author.
