Rapper Illbliss Reveals Why He Took A Break From Music

Nigerian rapper Melvin Ejiofor, better known as Illbliss, has shed light on his decision to step away from music in 2020. During an interview on HipTV, Illbliss explained that he took a break from the studio for two years to prioritize his role as a father.

He disclosed that his wife encountered complications during the pregnancy of their second daughter, necessitating his full attention and support. Coping with the challenges surrounding the births of both his children, Illbliss felt the need to pause and process everything.

Illbliss went on to mention that he resumed his musical endeavours in 2022, leading to the release of his latest album in 2024.

Also reflecting on the personal challenges he experienced, he recalled a time around the release of his previous album in May 2020 amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. He recounted driving to an interview despite pandemic precautions, only to receive news of his wife’s pregnancy complications shortly after the album’s release. This marked the arrival of his second daughter, coinciding with a peak period in his music career.
