The Blues Brothers actor Ralph Foody died after battling cancer on November 21, 1999. He was aged 71.

Ralph Foody, the memorable American actor, left a great legacy with his iconic portrayal of Johnny in the beloved films Home Alone and Home Alone 2: Lost in New York.
His screen credits from the 1980s, including Raw Deal and Dillinger, showcased his versatility alongside fellow gangster actor Lawrence Tierney.

In Home Alone (1990) and its 1992 sequel, Foody played the 1930s mobster Johnny, immortalized for his appearances in the black-and-white gangster films-within-the-films, Angels with Filthy Souls and its sequel Angels with Even Filthier Souls.

His delivery of the famous catchphrases ‘Keep the change ya filthy animal’ and ‘Merry Christmas ya filthy animal — and a Happy New Year’ became legendary.
Foody’s wit, earning him the nickname “The Witster,” was evident in roles like Det. Cragie in Code of Silence and the police dispatcher in The Blues Brothers.
Retiring after Home Alone 2, Foody spent his remaining years in Lexington, Kentucky, passing away at age 71 on November 21, 1999, after a battle with cancer.
