Famous Australian football legend, Rale Rasic has died at the age of 87. No cause of death was stated, however, it is believed that he died on June 8, 2023.

Tributes have been pouring in from social media after his death was announced.
“Shattering news. The legend, the icon Rale Rasic passed away this morning. I’m shattered. He was more than a coach to me. He was a mate, a bloody good mate,” Ray Gatt.

“We join the entire Australian Football community in mourning Rale Rasic & remembering him for his incredible contribution to our game. We were thrilled to welcome him to our festival last year where he charmed us all. RIP dear Rale. Condolences to his family & loved ones,” Football Writers Festival also shared.

“We’ve lost another giant of Oz football. Journey from Yugoslavian orphan and migrant to one of the youngest coaches in World Cup history is one of Australia’s great sports stories. Thanks for everything, Rale Rasic,” Sacha Pisani also wrote.
“A true pioneer of Australian football who will be greatly missed by the Australian football community at large, Vale Rale Rasic RIP,” Sports Journalist, Peter Filopoulous wrote.
“We’ve lost an icon. I didn’t want to believe the updates for the past few days that the great man could leave us. He blessed so many of us with his stories, humor, and wit. The godfather of Australian football and an icon of Australian sport, RIP Rale Rasic,” Adrian Arciuli.
