Rafael Caro Quintero is a notorious Mexican drug lord. Rafael Caro Quintero was born on October 24, 1952, in the village of La Noria, Badiraguato, Sinaloa.

His parents, Emilio Caro Payán and Hermelinda Quintero had twelve children, with him being the oldest son.
His father worked in agriculture and grazing and died when Caro Quintero was 14 years old. In his father’s absence, he worked alongside his mother to provide for his family.
He left La Noria at the age of 16 and moved to Caborca, Sonora, where he worked in livestock grazing.

He became a truck driver in Sinaloa two years later. He also worked on a bean and corn plantation in Sinaloa before leaving to join the drug trade in the neighbouring state of Chihuahua.
Caro Quintero was able to acquire several other ranches in the surrounding areas in less than five years and began to amass larger sums of money and influence.
