Buckingham Palace announced on Saturday, September 10, 2022, that the late monarch will be honoured with a state funeral at Westminster Abbey in Central London on Monday, September 19.

It will be the first time since the 18th century that a monarch’s funeral will be held at Westminster Abbey.
Following the funeral, the Queen’s parents, sister Princess Margaret, and beloved husband Prince Philip will be laid to rest at St. George’s Chapel in Windsor.
The Queen’s coffin is currently resting in the Balmoral Castle Ballroom, where family members and royal household staff have been paying their respects and quietly remembering the late Queen.

The Queen’s coffin will be moved from Buckingham Palace to Westminster Hall at 2:22 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 14, for lying-in-state, which will end on the morning of the state funeral.
The coffin will be carried to Westminster Abbey in a procession from the Palace of Westminster beginning at 10.44 a.m. local time on the morning of the funeral.
The announcement comes just two days after the palace announced she died “peacefully” at the age of 96 at her beloved Balmoral Castle after her doctors expressed “concern” about her health.
The funeral will conclude a week of ceremonies in which King Charles III and Queen Consort Camilla will tour the United Kingdom.
