He has won two major golf tournaments, the PGA Championship in 2017 and the Masters in 2022. Thomas became the 21st player to lead the Official World Golf Ranking in May 2018.
The 104th PGA Championship was held at Southern Hills Country Club in Tulsa, Oklahoma, on May 19–22, 2022. This was Southern Hills’ seventh PGA Championship and an eighth major championship.

The tournament was originally set to take place at Trump National Golf Club Bedminster in New Jersey, but it was shifted to Southern Hills when the US Capitol was stormed on January 6.
