Peter Seidler made significant contributions as a businessman and, notably, as the chairman of the San Diego Padres.
In 2012, Seidler, alongside his uncle Peter and Ron Fowler, orchestrated the acquisition of the San Diego Padres from John Moores, forming the O’Malley Group.
In 2020, the Major League Baseball (MLB) approved the transfer of the chairman role from Ron Fowler to Peter Seidler.

Under Seidler’s guidance, the Padres’ payroll witnessed a significant upswing. For the 2022 season, Seidler increased the payroll to an impressive $214 million, ranking sixth-highest in MLB.

The Padres’ remarkable journey led them to the 2022 National League Championship Series.
The 2023 MLB season saw another milestone for the Padres as Seidler increased the payroll to $237 million, making it the third-highest in the league.
Beyond the baseball diamond, Peter Seidler’s impact extended to the business world. In 1992, he founded Seidler Equity Partners, a private equity firm based in Marina del Rey, California.
Serving as the managing partner, Seidler steered the firm to remarkable success. By 2020, Seidler Equity Partners managed an estimated $1.8 billion in assets, a figure that grew to an impressive $3.5 billion by 2023.
Tragically, on November 14, 2023, Peter Seidler passed away in San Diego at the age of 63.
