Peter Pellegrini, a politician from Slovakia, was minister of health from December 2019 to March 2020 and served as prime minister of Slovakia from 2018 to 2020. He was born on October 6, 1975.

Prior to that, he held the positions of minister of education and science (2014), deputy prime minister (2016–2018), and speaker of the national council (2014–2016) for two years each. Until the end of June 2020, when he founded Voice – Social Democracy, Pellegrini was a member of Direction – Social Democracy.

He won a seat on the Smer-SD National Council for Direction in the 2006 parliamentary elections. He was re-elected in the elections of 2010 and 2012. He served as State Secretary for Finance from 2012 to 3 July 2014.

Peter Pellegrini parents are Eva Pellegriniová and Otto Pellegrini. Pellegrini is of Italian descent. Leopoldo Pellegrini, his great-grandfather, traveled to Austria-Hungary to help build the railway that connects Levice and Zvolen.
His party was defeated in the 2020 parliamentary contest by Igor Matovi’s populist, anti-corruption party Ordinary People.
