In 2009, Canadian Business Magazine put his net worth at $750 million. That made him the 70th richest Canadian in the world at the time. Mr. Nygard’s fortune is now valued at $500 million.
Peter is a strong advocate for breast cancer research and has made significant charitable contributions to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation.

In December 2020, Peter Nygard was arrested on sex trafficking, racketeering, and other accusations. Several women had accused Nygard of sexual misconduct over the years, with some stating that he had lured them to his Bahamas house and mistreated them.
The fallout from Nygard’s alleged wrongdoing has resulted in the demise of his fashion empire. According to reports, the company declared bankruptcy in March 2020, blaming the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on its operations.
