Gov. Greg Abbott of Texas said Friday, May 27 that he wants a comprehensive explanation of what happened during the shooting at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, but that he has no say in whether the school district’s police chief should be removed.

“As far as his employment status is concerned, that is something I have no influence over and am unaware of,” Abbott added. “All of those officials’ actions will be known, identified, and explained to the public.”

Arredondo has not made any public statements about the incident since two brief press statements on the day of the tragedy.
