On October 15, 1940, Pierre “Perrie” Mans was born, and he lived 82 years until his death on September 13, 2023. After his birth, Mans developed to become a successful professional snooker player. He was born in South Africa and won the South African Professional Championship for the first time in 1965.

Mans, who had previously won the Benson & Hedges Masters in 1979, ultimately won the competition 20 times. The one and only time Mans participated in the competition, he won the South African Amateur Championship in 1960. Following his professional transition, he defeated Fred Van Rensburg in 1965 to win the South African Professional Championship. Mans made his World Snooker Championship debut in 1970.

At the age of 82, Perrie Mans passed away on September 13, 2023. Mans died from an unspecified cause, taking his final breath.
In the first round of the 1981 Masters competition in January, he shocked everyone by defeating heavy favorite Steve Davis 5-3 with a high break of just 36. Cliff Thorburn defeated Mans 4-5 in the quarterfinal.
