About Paul Harding
Paul Harding is a musician cum writer famous for publishing the novel Tinkers in 2009, which was his debut and won the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction and the PEN/Robert W. Bingham Prize in 2010.
Harding was raised on the north shore of Boston in Wenham, Massachusetts. He began his career as a musician as far back as the early 1990s, as the drummer in the band Cold Water Flat.

As a young lad, Harding worked under his grandfather who repaired clocks for a living, and who later served as an inspiration for his novel Tinkers.

Harding earned his first degree in English from the University of Massachusetts Amherst, and a Master of Fine Arts degree from the Iowa Writers’ Workshop.
Harding has previously taught writing at Harvard University and the University of Iowa, and “considers himself a “self-taught modern New England transcendentalist”.
In 2012, Harding won the Fernanda Pivano Award, and in 2013, he published his second novel Enon.
In 2023, Harding released his third novel, This Other Eden which was selected for “the 2023 Booker Prize, and the 2023 National Book Award for Fiction.”
