Rodgers is a native of Avon, Indiana. He played golf for four years at Avon High School after that. At Stanford University, where he played golf for three years, he tied Tiger Woods’ record for victories with 11 during that time. Rodgers won the Ben Hogan Award at the start of 2014 and topped the World Amateur Golf Ranking for 16 weeks.
After becoming professional in June 2014, Rodgers utilized sponsor exemptions to compete on the PGA Tour. He earned enough non-member FedEx Cup points to qualify for the Web.com Tour Finals. He finished ninth at the Nationwide Children’s Hospital Championship (T-8).
He earned enough money from his overall 58th-place performance in the Finals to qualify for the 2015 Web.com Tour. He triumphed in the Pacific Rubiales Colombia Championship, the second competition of the year. He competed on a sponsor’s exemption in May and finished T-2 in the Wells Fargo Championship on the PGA Tour.

After placing T40 at the Memorial Tournament, Rodgers was granted “Special Temporary Member” status for the upcoming season on the PGA Tour. A PGA Tour card for the 2015–16 season was awarded to him when he finished 24th on the 2015 Web.com Tour money list.
Even though he came in second, he was disqualified from the 2015 Web.com Tour Finals because he had earned enough FedEx Cup points to finish inside the Top 125.
