Patrick French was a writer, historian, and academic from the United Kingdom. As of this writing, it is unknown whether Patrick French had any children at the time of his death or not.

Patrick French died in London after a four-year battle with cancer, according to his family. His death was announced on 16 March 2023.
Patrick French studied literature at Edinburgh University. He received a PhD in South Asian Studies after studying English and American literature at the University of Edinburgh.

Patrick French is the author of several books, including Younghusband: The Last Great Imperial Adventurer (1994), a biography of Francis Younghusband; The World Is What It Is (2008).
In July 2017, he was named the first Dean of Ahmedabad University’s School of Arts and Sciences.
He also received the Sunday Times Young Writer of the Year Award, the Heinemann Prize from the Royal Society of Literature, and the Somerset Maugham Award.
