Patrick Cantlay was born to Steve Cantlay and Colleen Naylan Cantlay in Long Beach, California. His parents have always been supportive of his career.
Patrick Cantlay has two brothers, Nick and Jack Cantlay, as well as a sister, Caroline Cantlay. As a senior, he won the California State High School Championship at Servite High School.

Cantlay won four tournaments as a freshman at UCLA and received the Haskins Award as the most outstanding collegiate golfer in 2011.
He was also named the Division I Jack Nicklaus National Player of the Year by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA).
In 2017, he excelled in the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open, the Memorial Tournament 2020, and the Jojo Championship.
Patrick Cantlay has won eight times on the PGA Tour since turning pro, as well as the 2021 FedEx Cup.
