During the final day of the annual Islamic ritual, Tafsr, in Tarkwa, where numerous Muslims, including the NDC candidate, gathered, Zackary shocked his party members by voicing his support for Alhaji Taylor.
Encouraging voters to choose Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia, the NPP’s flagbearer, for the presidency, Zackary urged them to cast their parliamentary votes for the NDC’s candidate instead of the incumbent NPP MP, George Mireku Duker.

Despite the presence of Municipal Chief Executive Benjamin Kessie, Zackary asserted that Tarkwa Nsuaem has never had a Muslim MP and should therefore reward Alhaji Taylor with the seat.
Addressing the audience, Zackary emphasized Taylor’s potential to bring positive change to the constituency, stressing the importance of unity and progress.
According to the Punch newspaper, MP Mireku Duker, who also serves as Deputy Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, expressed dissatisfaction with Zackary’s endorsement, particularly considering Zackary’s significant role in his 2020 re-election.
