Panagiotis Koutsikos: Who Is Marietta Giannakou’s Husband?

Panagiotis Koutsikos is an electrical engineer and the husband of late Former Greek Education Minister, Marietta Giannakou.

Born on March 27, 1951, in Kyparissia Messina, Greece, Panagiotis was married to Marietta Giannakou between 1883-1997.

Marietta Giannakou died from long health problems- diabetes and kidney problems. She had a heart attack years ago and had her legs amputated in 2008.

The lawmaker of the New Democratic Party of Greece died in a military hospital on Sunday, after being treated in the intensive care unit. She was 70.

Giannakou became a doctor and neuropsychologist at the University of Athens School of Medicine. She was a member of the Greek Parliament, a Vice-Chairman of the Parliamentary Commission of European Affairs.

She was also a member of the Parliamentary Commission on Foreign Affairs and Defence. Giannakou Chaired the Greek Friendship Group between the Greek and Polish Parliament.

She became the national coordinator and a member of the Council of the European Union’s Horizontal Working Group on Drugs. She was also a former Head of the New Democratic Party Delegation of the European Parliament.
