According to a news statement from the Clark County School District Police Department, Michael Loyd, a high school teacher was arrested for “engaging in sex with a child.”

Michael Loyd, 34, is a teacher at Palo Verde High School, according to police. Since January of 2016, he has worked with the CCSD.
Loyd was charged with one count of open/gross lewdness, engaging in sex with a student by a school employee, and possessing a dangerous substance without a prescription.

According to authorities, he was arrested and booked into the Clark County Detention Center, but “shall be assigned to home per the agreed arrangement with the bargaining unit.”

According to estimates, over 100 teachers in the United States have been charged with child sex crimes since the beginning of 2022.
According to a Fox News study, police detained at least 135 teachers and aides in 41 states between January 1 and May 13, 2022, averaging one arrest per day. Approximately 76% of the arrests were made in connection with alleged offences against students.
