While many courses in Germany are taught in English, Gunther emphasized the importance of having a certain level of German language proficiency to thrive in the country.
She noted that university studies in Germany are either free or very affordable compared to other countries with English as an official language.

To support German culture and language training in Nigeria, there are various programs, with the most famous being the Deutsche Institute, which offers language courses and corresponding language tests.

Gunther explained that the cultural exchange between Germany and Nigeria also includes scientific cooperation, exhibitions, and interactions among artists, musicians, and other professionals from both countries.
German language courses are also available at several universities in Nigeria and through the German Academic Exchange Service.
The ambassador emphasized that Germany welcomes the contributions of Nigerians and other foreigners, as the country’s population is declining, and there is a need for a skilled workforce.
Most Nigerians in Germany have come to work, live, and support their families, while also sending money back home. Gunther acknowledged the meaningful contributions made by Nigerians in Germany, just like many other foreigners from various countries.
