Orlando Ride Death: 14-Year-Old Dies After Falling From Ride At ICON Park

Authorities say a 14-year-old boy died after falling from a ride at ICON Park in Orlando, Florida.

After receiving a 911 call, deputies responded to the Orlando Free Fall attraction at ICON Park shortly after 11 p.m. Thursday, according to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office.

While the incident investigation is still ongoing, “witnesses on scene stated that someone had fallen from the ride,” according to the sheriff’s office.

According to officials, the teen was transferred to Arnold Palmer Hospital and died as a result of his injuries. His identity has remained unknown.

According to ICON Park’s website, the Orlando Free Fall ride, a free-standing drop tower stands at 430 feet and can carry up to 30 riders.

“We operate the ride with all safety precautions in mind,” Stine stated, noting that the youngster was wearing a safety harness at the time of the tragedy.

He added the attraction, which is presently closed, “will reopen when the time is right.”
