He reiterated that since the launch of the app, it has successfully eliminated over 14,000 ghost names from the system. Moreover, it has streamlined and simplified the registration process, eliminating the need for personnel to queue for days at NSS district offices.
He highlighted that the Metric app incorporates artificial intelligence security measures, effectively preventing instances of impersonation and thereby saving Ghana millions of cedis.
The NSS Metric App was introduced during the 2021–2022 service year with the primary objective of expediting the national service registration process and improving the detection and prevention of impersonation.
During registration, individuals complete an NSS form online and then visit district offices, where the app scans their faces and matches them with their Ghana cards to authenticate and validate their identity.

Armstrong Esaah, during an interview on Onua FM’s Etifi Nsem Show on Saturday, April 20, commended the Executive Director of the Scheme, Osei Assibey Antwi, and the management for implementing various initiatives at the NSS.
He elaborated that three years ago, Ghana was on the brink of disbursing over GHC112 million in allowances to unqualified individuals, but the timely implementation of the Metric App by the management prevented the situation.
“Without this app, these people would have gone through registration and paid a monthly service allowance, though they may not exist. They were blocked so they could not get the chance to even enter and get registered,” he stated.
Mr. Esaah informed Ekow J.B., the host of the show, that over the years, the NSS Metric App has evolved and strengthened, ensuring that the entire registration process is transparent, equitable, and devoid of irregularities.
He indicated that the NSS management has drafted ambitious plans and partnership agreements to facilitate the deployment of personnel to foreign countries for their national service.
Esaah expressed hope that the Parliament of Ghana would swiftly take action to pass the NSS policy for 2024–2034, which encompasses a thorough review of the National Service Scheme’s operations.
