The petition aims to prompt CHRAJ to investigate Ablakwa for allegedly breaching a provision in the 1992 Constitution by engaging in lucrative business activities without seeking parliamentary approval.
Owusu-Bempah asserts that Ablakwa’s purported involvement in profitable ventures contradicts the constitutional oath he took to uphold the law.

The petition, dated Friday, June 7, 2024, and shared with GhanaWeb, alleges that Ablakwa is the director, sole shareholder, and beneficial owner of Volta Klenam Farms and Industries LTD, established on September 2, 2021.
If proven, Ablakwa’s ownership of the company would place him in a position of profit or emolument, violating Article 98(2) of the 1992 Constitution.
Additionally, Owusu-Bempah contends that Ablakwa’s failure to seek permission from the Speaker of Parliament before engaging in his business endeavors indicates a deliberate attempt to evade oversight and accountability.
